Community Health Project
Le Cheile FRC provides a variety of supports in respect of community development which are available to all members in the society including women, men, children, young adults and the elderly.
Mental Health Programmes
‘Lighting the way’ – resource available to families who have been bereaved by suicide in their lives. A booklet is available for members to use as a support at home.
‘Mind your head’ – this service is aimed at young people to channel their concerns about how mental health is affecting their lives.
‘Green Ribbon Event’ – an initiative which began in May 2017 to raise awareness about mental health issues and to promote this illness in a more positive light.
‘Understanding Self Harm’ – this is a 1 day training programme to help individuals understand how to understand the issues a person is facing when trying to cope with mental health.
‘Safe Talk’ – a half day training programme which attempts to prepare individuals to identify people who may be suffering with mental health issues and how to connect with them.
Community Initiatives
‘One Million Steps’ – this initiative is aimed at children in the community to highlight the important of exercising.
‘Walking Group’ – meet every Thursday evening at 7pm. All new members welcome.
‘Mallow Community Health Week’ – 201 people attended our last community health week. Area’s we focused were osteoporosis and bone health including advice of over the counter medication.
‘Community Food Initiative’- advice for both individuals and families on how to buy healthy foods on a budget including cooking tips.
